Meet the Rowans
“I can’t imagine not having someone to lean on. Someone to talk to. Something to grab on to when you don’t have hope. We know that Marillac St. Vincent fills the gap for our families that do not have support in their time of need.” –John Rowan

John and Maryann Rowan realize that Marillac St. Vincent Family Services (MSV) cares for thousands of families and has done so in the Vincentian tradition for many years.
For John, it started at St. Barnabas Parish where he was a year behind Sr. Katie Norris (future Marillac St. Vincent President and CEO) in grammar school. “I spent many happy evenings on the ‘original’ Norris family porch enjoying the friendship and summer evenings.”, John related.
In the early 1990’s, John was asked by Sr. Katie to join the MSV Finance Committee. From there, he joined the Board of Trustees--ultimately becoming Board Chair. “It was a truly rewarding experience to lead the Board and get to know the deep impact we have in the neighborhoods we serve.” Maryann was actively involved as a volunteer, serving our seniors dinner and frequently attended fundraising events.
As former teachers and administrators, John and Maryann have a unique appreciation for the impact of MSV’s early childhood education programs. “Providing a child with a high-quality early lea
rning experience is one of the most effective strategies for stopping the cycle of poverty."
Today, John is semi-retired, spends time with Maryann, enjoys his grandchildren and stays active at MSV.
John and Maryann Rowan realize that Marillac St. Vincent cares for thousands of families and has done so in the Vincentian tradition for many years. To help ensure MSV has the necessary resources to continue making a difference for generations to come, they have provided for the organization in their will. Through guidance from the MSV Planned Giving Program and their personal attorney, John and Maryann have peace of mind knowing their deepest and most heartfelt values will continue after they are gone.
Join John and Maryann in supporting MSV’s mission for years to come by remembering Marillac St. Vincent in your will, or as a beneficiary in a retirement plan (IRA or CD), charitable gift annuity or life insurance policy.
